Hoteliers gain access to leading platform for short-term bookings
Berlin, 27. November 2019. CultSwitch, the innovative channel management provider for hotels, has equipped its channel manager of the same name with an interface to HotelTonight. HotelTonight, now part of Airbnb, was the first hotel platform to specialize in last-minute, discounted hotel room reservation.
HotelTonight was founded in 2010 and its headquarters are based in San Francisco, USA. The globally active company concentrates on finding upscale hotels with any number of rooms in larger cities.
While HotelTonight initially restricted itself exclusively to last-minute bookings, the time frame for bookings was extended to seven days from 2014. However, now hotel rooms can be booked up to 100 days in advance (up to 14 overnight stays). The company has a Mobile First strategy and the HotelTonight app has been downloaded more than 35 million times worldwide.
The platform differentiates itself from other OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) by being the expert in short term booking windows. This includes guaranteed sales through prepaid and noncancellable bookings as well as good visibility for hotels on the platform – a maximum of 15 hotels are displayed at once on search queries. HotelTonight was acquired by Airbnb in March 2019. Airbnb is thus pushing further into the hotel industry and positioning itself as a comprehensive travel platform.
Since November 2019, users of the channel manager CultSwitch have been able to offer their unoccupied rooms via HotelTonight. This provides a further option to market rooms at short notice and to become less dependent on individual large OTAs.
